Dennis Michael Dolan

Dennis M. Dolan, of Ahwahnee, Calif., died on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at his home near Bass Lake.

Dennis was born on Jan. 9, 1948. He was a 1966 graduate of Santa Maria High School, went on to graduate from UCSB in 1971 and earned an MBA from San Diego State University.

Dennis lived for many years in San Diego where he owned several popular restaurant/bars. He relocated to the Bass Lake area where he lived and worked in semi-retirement. Bass Lake was a family retreat during summers of his youth, and he chose to spend his later years in that setting, working and living as he chose.

His hobbies included pine cone collecting and preservation which he sold at specialty outlets in his small community and shipped across the country, thereby sharing his love of the mountains through the distribution of “the world’s largest pine cones.”

Dennis is survived by his father, Barry I. Dolan of Santa Maria; his brothers, Tim Dolan and Patrick Dolan, and their wives, also of Santa Maria; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Matthew, Amy, Brett, and Patrick along with their spouses and 12 great-nieces and nephews; and his aunt and uncle, Joan and Jerry Brannon of Salinas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Happ Dolan.

Dennis was known as a kindhearted, generous man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The family wishes to thank the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, Dennis’ neighbors and friends, especially his long-time friends who were a help and support following his death and who have shared our grief.
