NORTH FORK — Cub Scout Pack 357 will hold a flag retirement ceremony previously scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10, at the North Fork Recreation Center, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. and the public is invited to attend. According to Boy Scouts of America, under Title 4, Chapter 1, § 8, paragraph k of the US Code (often referred to as the Flag Code) it states:

The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

“Please bring any flags that need to be retired,” say organizers. “We will be having a time of remembrance for those who served during Pearl Harbor.”
