Crews Respond To Vegetation Fire South Of Raymond

RAYMOND — Firefighters responded this morning to a vegetation fire burning just south of the community of Raymond.

At 11:25 a.m., crews were dispatched to reports of a fire on Road 600 near Road 407. Nine engines, two hand crews, one dozer and a water tender responded, along with Air Attack, two air tankers and two helicopters.

The first unit at scene reported the fire at approximately one acre, burning in light, flashing fuels.

At 11:50 a.m., the forward progress of the fire was reported stopped at about 2 acres, and all resources not already at scene were cancelled, including the aircraft which had just arrived overhead.

The fire was contained at 12:12 p.m., and by 1:21 p.m., it was controlled.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
