Crews Hold The Line On Redinger Fire, Now 50 Percent Contained

NORTH FORK – Crews have made excellent progress on containing the Redinger Fire and the Castle Fire, both burning along Mammoth Pool Road (Forest Road 4S81) east of North Fork.

The Redinger Fire is holding at 170 acres and is now 50 percent contained. The Castle Fire had fireline and hose lay around it within hours of crews arriving at scene in the early morning hours of Aug. 28.

Firefighters were able to hold the line on the Redinger Fire overnight, and are working today to strengthen containment lines, do mop-up and hit hot spots in the interior.

Both fires were reported at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug, 27. The Redinger Fire is about 1/4 mile north of the Redinger Lake overlook, and the Castle Fire is across the road from Campers Corner about 1/2 mile to the northeast.

The cause of the fires remains under investigation.
