CoyoteFest A Howlin’ Good Time In Coulterville

COULTERVILLE — CoyoteFest, Coulterville’s largest annual event, transforms a quiet, gold rush era town into a boomtown for the day on Saturday, Sep. 24.

A parade down Historic Main Street kicks off the day at 10 a.m. Alberta Garrett, great granddaughter of the founder of the town’s historic Hotel Jeffery, (born in Yosemite Valley) will be this year’s Grand Marshall.

The Coyote Hill Band will be belting out their great music in the park throughout the day. Mr. Stilts will also be back. There will be pony rides, a bounce house, face painting and a Kids Korner with games and prizes.

Main Street will be closed to through traffic, with vintage, classic and sports cars filling the area as part of the Car Show, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, with everyone getting to vote for their “fave.”

The Main Strecoulterville-coyotefestet merchants, as well as street vendors, will be offering Howlin’ great specials on their wares. There will be three free showings — 11:15 a.m., 1:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. — of Roadrunner cartoons at the Second Bench Gallery, with free popcorn at each.

There will also be three free wild and woolly Western comedy melodrama performances by the Sierra Nevada Guns 4 Hire reenactors down near the Magnolia Saloon. There will also be a strolling “gypsy” violinist.

The Coulterville Park will be filled with live music, plus the Kid’s Korner, bounce house, pony rides, and “Zippy” electric rides. Over 50 booths will be sporting art, jewelry and crafted items, kettle corn, jams and jellies, baked goods, hamburgers ‘n hot dogs, enchiladas, soda, water, beer, candles, CoyoteFest souvenir T-Shirts and much more.

There are no admission fees to enjoy the music and entertainment in either the park or on Main Street and there is free parking in the lots on the corner of Park Lane and Broadway.
