MARIPOSA – A Mariposa couple has been taken into custody after sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at a home on the 7000 block of Hite’s Cove Road in Jerseydale last Thursday.
On Mar. 5, Mariposa County deputies arrested Ryan Osteen, 35, of Mariposa for possession of stolen property at his residence.
Osteen is suspected in a string of property thefts. Deputies and detectives recovered several property items believed to have been stolen from Mariposa residents.
Over 20 items were taken into evidence, including a Honda Quad, Husqvarna weedeater and chainsaw, log splitter, DK mower, Craftsman mower, road signs, various ID’s and Social Security cards, and marijuana.
At the time the search warrant was served, Alicia Osteen, 35, of Mariposa, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Three of her four children were found in the home at the time the warrant was served, and all four were turned over to Child Protective Services.
Currently the recovered property has been tied to eight local victims, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.
Ryan Osteen was booked for the charge of Possession of Stolen property and is facing bail of $25,000.
The investigation is ongoing.
