Concerned About Security? Free Class Will Help

Security Class FlyerOAKHURST — When it comes to our home networks or online security, we tend to bury our heads in the sand. If you don’t think about it, you’re safe, right? Wrong! Brian Casey of ComTech and Jennifer Moss of Moss Web Works are teaming up to give a free community class on the best tech security practices, in your home and online.

The class will take place in the Oakhurst Community Center on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. Refreshments and food will be available for purchase from Slim’s Koffee Shack.

Casey will cover home network setup and security, and how to choose secure, easy-to-remember passwords. Moss will speak about online safety for both adults and children, your online reputation, and who can see what about you.

Jennifer Moss is a veteran web developer, who entered the Internet arena early on in 1996. She’s served as Director of Development, VP technology, and has consulted for companies including IMDB, eToys, Korn/Ferry and the Bump, as well as developing her own popular website, BabyNames.com. Moss now runs the local Moss Web Works, creating easy-to-update, mobile-enabled websites for mountain community businesses.

Brian Casey is the CFO of ComTech and has a degree in computer science with a specialty in networking. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional, and has worked in the tech industry for over 20 years. In addition, Casey served eight years as CHP patrol officer before accepting medical retirement. He has since devoted his full time to ComTech, helping business with their computer networks, phone systems, and audio/visual needs. He hopes that classes like this will allow him to continue to be a positive force in the community.
