Commuter's Call Lands Fugitive Behind Bars

COARSEGOLD – A Winton man wanted in Merced County is back behind bars, thanks to a commuter’s call alerting authorities to a fight during the morning communte in Coarsegold yesterday morning.

Edward Arthur Zamora, 46, was wanted on three felony narcotic warrants, including special allegation charges. He was seen parked alongside the road, just off Highway 41 near Black Oak Road, arguing with three women just before 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

The group requested no action be taken as “they were only arguing,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Arguments aside, deputies took the fugitive into custody, and booked him into the Madera County Department of Corrections. He was turned over to Merced County authorities this morning.
