Community Unity At Oakhurst College

OAKHURST – The Oakhurst College Campus is holding a Community Unity event on Thursday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., bringing area vendors, service groups and local colleges together to celebrate with free food, music, workshops, games, and prizes.

At 11:30 a.m. a “Getting Cash for College” workshop is set to be conducted by Financial Aid, and designed to help current and future students find the funds to attend college.

Some of the local community businesses, service organizations and colleges attending include First 5, CAL Fire, Madera County Fire, Helping Hands, Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce, Soroptimists of the Sierra, Fresno Pacific University, National University, Sierra Tel, Oakhurst Kihon Karate, SOS (Service Organization of the Sierras), The Boys and Girls Club of Oakhurst, and Yosemite Western Artists Association.

School representatives from the faculty, Academic Counseling, Veterans’ Services, Financial Aid, and Student Government will be available to provide information, as well as answer questions.

This event will provide an opportunity for individuals to see all of the vendors, services, and service organizations available locally.

“This is a great opportunity to enjoy some food, learn more about our amazing community, and win some prizes. I hope you can join us to celebrate our community,” says Oakhurst Center Coordinator Vikki Piper.

The Oakhurst Center is located off of Highway 41 on Civic Circle Drive behind the Rite Aid store in Oakhurst. For further information, please call (559) 683-3940.
