Coarsegold Woman Involved In Crash In Livermore

By Erin Ivie -Reporter for the Oakland Tribune

LIVERMORE — A Madera County woman was involved in a wild car crash that occurred when her medical condition flared up at the wheel, police said.

About 8:51 a.m. on Friday, May 24, the 49-year-old driver, from Coarsegold, was parked on the side of the road when witnesses said her silver Dodge Ram truck “shot off like a rocket” on Concannon Boulevard near San Vicente Drive, Officer Traci Rebiejo said.Police believe the woman’s foot accidentally hit the gas pedal as a result of the medical problem, which they wouldn’t reveal.

The truck then plunged 125 feet down into a ditch, back up the ditch and over the top of an embankment before smashing through the back fence of a house and into an outdoor fireplace.

According to Rebiejo, the woman, whose identity was not released, had to be extracted from the truck, which had flipped on its side, and was a total loss.

She was tranported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

No one else was injured in the incident, Rebiejo said. The truck had its tires ripped off, and was ultimately a loss, and the damage to the residence was limited to the fence and backyard.
