Coarsegold Woman Convicted Of Felonies

Rachel JamesMADERA COUNTY — Coarsegold resident Rachel Nickole James, 34, was convicted of felony violations including assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats, as well as a misdemeanor petty theft, at a jury trial in the Madera County Superior Courthouse on Thursday, July 28.

The trial related to an incident that occurred on December 7, 2015, at the Chevron station on Highway 41 and Road 417 near Indian Lakes. These convictions are both “strike offenses” under the California Legislative Three Strike Sentencing Scheme.

Mountain Area and Bass Lake Court Deputy District Attorney Brooke Bergman prosecuted the case for the People of the State of California.

At the conclusion of the trial, the Honorable Mitchell Rigby remanded Ms. James into custody on a no bail status. Ms. James is scheduled to be sentenced on September 21, 2016 in Department 29 of the Madera Superior Court.
