Coarsegold Teen Arrested, School On Lockdown

MADERA COUNTY – An 18-year-old Coarsegold resident is facing charges that he brandished a replica handgun as he drove past a school bus stop yesterday afternoon.

According to reports, Joshua Oldham, who was a passenger in a vehicle on Tuesday, Mar. 19, was seen raising the weapon as his car passed by a bus stop shortly after 4 p.m.Deputies caught up with the vehicle at Spring Valley Elementary School on Road 200 in O’Neals, where they took Oldham into custody.

It is unlawful to exhibit replica handguns in public in the state of California, says Erica Stuart, spokesperson for the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Oldham was booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections, and bail was set at $5,000.

The school was placed on temporary lockdown during the incident.
