COARSEGOLD — Officials at the Coarsegold Post Office are sad to announce that due to ongoing vandalism, they will be closing the lobby overnight from now on.
Brooke Weber, Office in Charge, tells SNO that in the early morning hours of Thursday, Mar. 1, vandals walked into the lobby and broke into 27 post office boxes.
The incident was reportedly captured on video, and Postal Inspectors and the Madera County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
Though she has hopes that the nighttime closures will end at some point, and regrets the inconvenience to patrons, Weber says things “are not looking good.”
The lobby will close at 4:30 p.m. every day, and reopen at 5:30 a.m.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at 559-675-7770.
