Cloudship And Soul Captives At Music On The Green

MARIPOSA — The free summer concert series Music on the Green — brought to you by The Mariposa County Arts Council and its many fine sponsors — presents the second-to-last weekend of the 2018 season, featuring great live music from Cloudship on Friday, Aug. 17, and on Saturday, August 18, the debut of the young, local jam band Soul Captives.

Since forming in the summer of 2013, Cloudship has self-released four self-produced recordings (two EPs, and two LPs – one acoustic, one heavier rock), sold thousands of units, and played hundreds of shows throughout the state and across the country, easily making them one of the hardest working indie pairs in and outside California.

This electric band has found and perfected a full-band sound that toes the line between roots rock and modern rock. Heavily influenced by grunge, alternative, and prog-rock, Cloudship uses multitasking and fluid songwriting to create a sonic experience that you would expect from twice as many members. The dynamic duo’s return to the Art Park stage will be their last show before embarking on yet another national tour. Click here to find out more about Cloudship and sample their eclectic music.

The local collective of young musicians that make up Soul Captives, play with a loose improvisational structure akin to the Grateful Dead; establishing a song’s foundation and jamming freeform within and outside that construct before returning to the anchored theme of the song.

Soul Captives’ open minded concentration in musical communication between bandmates will provide a fresh, free-form performance for the Art Park audience’s listening and dancing pleasure.
