COARSEGOLD — Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino gave some local nonprofits a big boost this week, handing out more than $25,000 to the well-deserving organizations.

Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at a check presentation ceremony at Nativo’s, representatives from Chukchansi donated $25,800 to eight different local nonprofits as part of its “Chukchansi Cares” program.

For the past eight weeks, the nonprofits have had the opportunity to spin Chukchansi’s “Wheel of Cash” for their organization’s chance to win one million dollars. While none of the organizations landed on the $1,000,000 prize, the amounts they did win (listed below) include an additional $1,000 given by Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino.

Representatives from each of the nonprofits were on hand to receive Chukchansi’s donation during Wednesday’s celebration event at the casino on Lucky Lane. Nonprofit recipients included:

  • Comprehensive Addition Program, Inc. ($3,000)
  • Central California Animal Disaster Team ($3,200)
  • Pink Heals ($3,800)
  • Sierra Senior Center, Inc. ($3,150)
  • Fresno Barrios Unidos ($3,300)
  • Community Link ($2,950)
  • Be The Power Of One ($3,000)
  • The Living Room ($3,400)

Chukchansi supports numerous other nonprofit organizations throughout the region, including the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society and Ronald McDonald House Charities Central California.
