CHP Invites Women To Join Their Ranks

CALIFORNIA – The California Highway Patrol is looking for a few good women, and will be hosting a “Women in Law Enforcement” seminar to reach out to those who are interested in “diversity, challenges and opportunities.”

The CHP Central Division Recruitment Unit invites interested women to attend a seminar to learn how to become a part of their professional organization.

These seminars will provide information from diversified women in the Department, ranging from the level of Officer to Lieutenant, relaying valuable information and tools to women motivated to initiate and complete the hiring process.

There are a lot more job opportunities in the CHP than people may realize, from road patrol to dispatchers, commercial vehicle inspectors to electronics technicians. As recently retired Oakhurst CHP Sergeant Ed Greene told SNO in an interview last fall:

“A lot of people think all we do is write tickets and deal with accidents. But there’s a lot more to the Highway Patrol than you think. We have boats on patrol at the Golden Gate Bridge, CHP aircraft patrol the California Aqueduct to keep people from fishing, swimming and recreating in there. We have SWAT teams and mounted patrols. We also protect government dignitaries and heads of state that come to visit California, and the governor at the state capitol.”

For those interested in joining the CHP, Greene says there are a lot of opportunities.

“If you want to fly a helicopter or an airplane, ride a motorcycle, ride a horse – we even have bicycle patrols.

It happens quite often that CHP’s helicopter H-40 is called out to pluck an injured hiker off a peak in Yosemite or search for a missing person.

If you’re looking for an exciting career and want more information about the opportunities available with the California Highway Patrol, here’s your chance to learn more.

Seminars are scheduled on four different dates in the Central Valley:

  • May 20 at 6 p.m. at the Bakersfield Doubletree, 3100 Camino Del Rio Court, Bakersfield
  • May 21 at 6 p.m. at CSU Stanislaus Student Union, One University Circle, Turlock
  • June 2 at 6 p.m. at Fresno Hotel & Conference Center, 2233 Ventura Street, Fresno
  • June 3 at 6 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel, 2233 Ventura Street, Fresno

“Expect a challenge and take charge of your future!”

Please RSVP to 40Recruitment@chp.ca.gov on which seminar you plan to attend.
