CHP At Maximum Enforcement As School Starts

MOUNTAIN AREA – With school back in session across the foothills, the Oakhurst Area CHP will be at maximum enforcement this upcoming week of Aug. 17.

“Throughout the Oakhurst and Coarsegold areas, we will be strongly enforcing bus safety, speed – with radar trailer deployment, seatbelts, stop signs, crosswalk safety, bicycle safety, student pick up and drop off as well as all other violations which directly impact the safety of our schools zones and school goers,” says Public Information Officer Kaci Lutz.

As a reminder for those students and parents who are entering the world of teenage driving, the Oakhurst Area CHP will be holding a “Start Smart” presentation at the CHP office conference room on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m.

Start Smart is program designed to provide teens and their parents or guardians with an interactive safe driving awareness class which will illustrate how poor choices behind the wheel can affect the lives of numerous people. Start Smart also focuses on the responsibilities of newly licensed drivers and their parents/guardians, and collision avoidance techniques.

For further questions regarding the class, contact Public Information Officer Kaci Lutz at 559-658-6611.
