Choppers Raises Thousands For Valley Children’s Hospital

OAKHURST – Tim Harmon and the crew at Choppers presented Valley Children’s Hospital with a big check yesterday at the annual Spring Sale & Fundraising Event.

Darrellyn Colldar, development assistant at VCH, accepted the generous donation of $3,570, raised through the sale of raffle tickets over the past two months.

The tickets were $5 each and the winner of the drawing won a Husqvarna 550XP chainsaw worth $640.

“We will be putting this to very good use,” said Colldar. “Child Life is funded through donations and provides a ‘poke-free zone’ for kids who are hospitalized.” Child Life specialists provide education, play and emotional support for patients and their families, including a playroom and learning center.

In addition to the VCH raffle, Choppers gave away door prizes throughout the day including an electric lawnmower, a throwing ax, a bear carved by Ryan Demeusy, and gift certificates donated by Best Tire & Wheel and Tokens.

Everything in the store was up to 20 percent off on Saturday and reps from Husqvarna, Stihl and Echo were available to answer questions and demonstrate the equipment.

Shoppers took advantage of the free burgers and hot dogs, while kids of all ages tried their hand at the ax-throwing and the bravest took a ride on the zip line.

There’s still plenty of time to get everything you need for all those jobs around your home and property – lawnmowers and weed whackers, log splitters and chainsaws, leaf blowers and generators, plus everything from gloves to eye protection.

Choppers is located at 40451 Highway 41 in Oakhurst.
