Children's Museum Summer Enrichment Series

What’s up at the Children’s Museum of the Sierra? The month of June marks many things for us at the Museum!

First off – Come join the Celebration! We mentioned in the last update that we’ve got some fun brewing for Saturday, June 16th: a Carnival and Open House at the museum to celebrate our 15th year! There will be many games, activites, and food and drink on tap – so come and bring the whole famliy, invite your friends and lets celebrate! The carnival is planned to run from 10:30am to 2:00pm, tickets will be on sale for food and drinks as well as for the games and many of the activities. Entrance to the museum will be free all day.

Note – we are in need of volunteers, many of them, to help with the event. Support help includes set-up and teardown, staffing games, activity booths, the barbeque and preparing goods for the bake sale table. Any that are interested and willing to help – please drop us an email at cmos@sti.net.

Please help us spread the word! Since we can’t rent a bi-plane and drop flyers all over the region (nor would we want to… but the plane ride we’d definitely be up for!) we’d greatly appreciate your help in getting the word out. A copy of this flyer for printing and posting can be found here: Carnival Flier.

Secondly – New summer programs! Our Summer Enrichment Series of programs starts the Tuesday after the 15th Anniversary celebration – June 19th. This will be a six week series, Tuesdays through Fridays, of fun drop-in activities ranging from water play, science explorations, art projects and build-it challenges. These programs are free with admission or membership to the museum.

ThirdlyJarrod4Mayor Events! The Oakhurst Honorary Mayor Campaign is rolling along pretty well but competition from the ASPCA and the Wild Wonderful Womens is still in play. With about 4 1/2 weeks remaining Jarrod has few more events in the hopper. Let’s keep the momentum going. Visit the Jarrod4Mayor website or the his Jarrod4Mayor Facebook Page.

First up is one we already talked about – the 15th Anniversary Carnival & Open House.
On Sunday, June 24th – come enjoy a special train ride at the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. It will be a lunch and ride with all procedes going towards the musuem. More details will follow with info likely here on their Facebook page.

On Wednesday, June 27th, the monthly Oakhurst Chamber Business Mixer will visit the museum from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Lastly (for now) – new hours! Father’s Day traditionally marks our change from “Winter Hours” (a nomenclature we probably need to re-think) to summer hours. We switch from 10:00am – 4:00pm Tuesday through Saturday and 1:00pm – 4:00pm on Sundays, to longer hours Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00am – 5:00pm, and we’re closed on Sundays. Note – we will be closed on Sunday, June 27th due to Fathers Day. Have a hapy one all you dads out there!

As a reminder, the most up-to-date info about events and activities, including images from events, is found on our Facebook page.
