OAKHURST — It was a perfect spring day for a few games of softball last Saturday, as law enforcement from five different agencies joined the Yosemite High School alumni for the 4th annual Battle of the Badges (formerly known as Guns vs. Hoses).

On Saturday, Apr. 22, the YHS Badger Softball Boosters hosted the event, where local first responders competed in a double elimination slow pitch tournament as a fundraiser for the YHS softball program. The funds raised will be used for operating costs of the program this year and next.

The lineup this year included YHS alumni team, “Hey 5-0,’’ a combination of Madera PD and Sheriffs Office, California Highway Patrol, Madera SWAT and Fresno PD.

The YHS alumni team played a total of four games to make it to the championship round against Fresno PD. “Hey 5-0” lost to Fresno in their first match-up of the day, but defeated three other teams to face their nemesis once again.

In a hard-fought battle, Fresno PD took the championship — a back-to-back win, having been victorious at last year’s tournament.

We’d like to thank all who participated in supporting the YHS Softball program!
