NORTH FORK — A Celebration of Life for Ruby Pomona and her son Gaylen Lee will be held today — Monday, July 22 –beginning at 11 a.m. at the North Fork Recreation Center.
The event is open to the public and all community members wishing to pay their respects are invited to attend.
Pomona was an expert basket maker and Lee was a published author and both were well known and beloved Elders of North Fork’s Mono Indian community.
Pomona and Lee died earlier this month. Pomona passed away on July 4 after a long illness and Lee died July 6 after being shot near his home in North Fork.
North Fork resident Robert Moye Jr. has been charged with homicide in Lee’s death and is being held in the Madera County Jail on $3.75 million bond. He has entered a plea of not guilty and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on August 8.
