Celebration of Life for Stephen Charles Stein

Stephen Charles Stein was born on October 29, 1938, and passed away on January 24, 2020. “Steve” was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Steve was born in National City, California, and graduated from Sweetwater High School. After high school he joined the California Division of Forestry (CDF) and spent the next 35 years with the agency, working in both southern and central California until he retired as a Division Chief.

Steve spent much of his time volunteering as a baseball, football and basketball coach, all of which he gave of his time and resources to make sure kids (boys and girls) had access to sports. He called Mariposa home, where countless people know him as coach.

Steve is survived by his wife Marcia, and children Chuck (Susannah) Stone of Los Osos, Valerie (John) Trujillo of Mariposa, Chaunee Seifried of Silverton, Oregon, Victoria (Kenneth) Trujillo of Mariposa, Robert Stein of Ellensburg, Washington, Steve (Melody) Stein of Ellensburg, Washington, and Donald (Marina) Stein of Mariposa. Steve is also survived by over 60 grandchildren and great grandchildren and countless friends.

Steve was a Christian and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Mariposa. He is in Heaven and we will see him again.
