Celebration of Life for Scott Burert Rankin

Scott Burert Rankin passed away on September 15, 2019, in Coarsegold. He was born January 27, 1961, in Inglewood to Norma and Wallace Rankin. Scott grew up in Cypress in Orange County until the age of 12, when the family moved to Oakhurst in 1973. He attended Oakhurst Elementary, Sierra High and then Yosemite High (Class of 1979).

He held various jobs in the community including Raleys, the Pines Market, and Coarsegold Market. He had his own carpet cleaning business and was known as “The Carpet Guy.”  Scott was also an army veteran, a private investigator, an ordained minister, and an avid Trump supporter. He became friends with everyone he met and always had a joke ready. He was a very generous man and was known for his “green thumb.” Scott was happiest when he was fishing, and two of his favorite places were Bass Lake and Shaver Lake. He was a lover of animals and he always took his beloved dogs (Cowboy, Oliver, Dabber, DJ, and Jessie) fishing with him.

Scott leaves behind daughters Hannah Rankin, Holly Rankin and son Hayden Pochmara of Louisiana; grandchildren Brantley Pochmara and Kayzlee Foreman of Louisiana; siblings Victoria Hughes of Irvine, California, Sari Ashley of Taft, California, Craig Rankin of Keizer, Oregon, and Robin Zinser of Oregon; nieces and nephews Adam Engman of San Diego, California, Ashley Tranzow of Phoenix, Arizona, Shayne Rankin of Fresno, California, Brayden of Florida, Allan Brown of Bullhead City, Arizona, Nichole Brown of Georgia, Derek Zinser, Justin Zinser and Evan Zinser of Oregon; and many, many friends that were very dear to him.

A celebration of life will be announced soon.
