Celebration of Life for Robert Dituri

Robert Dituri was born April 1, 1935, in Fresno, to Joe and Jenny Dituri.

He passed away on January 27, 2020, at the age of 83 at the V.A. hospital in Fresno. He is preceded in death by both parents, brother David, and stepson Tom. He grew up around Reedley and attended Great Western Grade School and Fowler High.

He joined the Navy at 17 and served on the S.S. Shangri-La, and was stationed at China Lake afterward. After the Navy he studied art, and enjoyed painting and sold some of his artwork. There are several of his paintings around the house.

His interest in art was helpful in his career of auto body repairs, from which he retired at 62.

Enjoying the mountains, he moved to Oakhurst in 1979, gathering firewood, taking care of his flowers and was generally happy with life after work.

He is survived by his wife Wendy of Oakhurst, sister-in-law Melba of Clovis, brother Richard of Tulare, a daughter Tami of Hanford, son Anthony (Claudia) of Wasilla, AK, stepdaughter Tami (Jack) of Bakersfield, and daughter-in-law Rhonda of Tomball, TX. and nephew Eric (Caroline) of Fresno.
