Celebration of Life for Marilyn Ekstrum-Fate

Marilyn Ekstrum-Fate went home to Heaven on December 2, 2020. She was born in Minneapolis, MN, in 1936 and began her walk of faith in her youth. She attended high school and business college in Minnesota and lived there until 1956. She moved to Inglewood, California, in the summer of 1956 and worked for North American Aviation where she met Norman Ekstrum and they were married in December of 1957.

She moved to Ahwahnee, California, in 1965 where she lived in a small trailer on her 40-acre farm. She cared for three small children in a small trailer with no telephone, an outhouse, and only cold water for washing clothes and a clothes-line for drying. She stayed very busy on the farm with cutting wood for heating, gardening, butchering, milking, churning butter by hand, canning, and freezing vegetables for the winter. She eventually had a flush toilet and a telephone on a party line. She continued to raise her boys for 17 years and then got a job outside the home in 1977.

She worked for Wes Tarr Insurance as a secretary until getting a job at Yosemite Union High School as a Secretary/Registrar in 1981 and retired in 1995. She was also one of the founding members of Oakhurst Lutheran Church in 1983, where she sang in the choir and worked part-time as a secretary. She is survived by Eric, Dale, and Alicks Ekstrum along with eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, a twin sister Evelyn, younger sister Dorothy, and brother Richard.

We will all sorely miss her and know that she is rejoicing in Heaven with all who have gone on before her.
