Celebrating Flag Day At Oakhurst Lutheran

OAKHURST — Continuing a tradition began in 2009, Oakhurst Lutheran Church will hold a celebration in honor of Flag Day on Thursday, June 14.

As usual, the touching event will take place in the memorial garden at the church, with a ceremony at the veterans’ monument, starting with dinner at 6 p.m. This year’s inspirational speaker will be Ed Bates.

Dinner and dessert includes a pulled pork sandwich, chips, soda and ice cream, with a suggested donation of $15 for the Semper Fi fundraiser. The celebration continues at the flagpole and memorial at 7 p.m.

Retirement of old flags will also be part of the ceremony, so if you have a flag in need of proper disposal bring it to the church office. Free flags will be provided for the children.

Oakhurst Lutheran Church is located at 39255 Black Road. Questions? Give them a call at (559) 683-4673.
