Celebrate Restaurant Month With Local Dining Specials

MOUNTAIN AREA — If you have a taste for the sweet or the savory, or the hoppy, you’ll be happy to know that Visit Yosemite Madera County has deemed January to be Restaurant Month, and a host of local eateries are celebrating.

For instance, Ducey’s on the Lake in Bass Lake is offering a prix fixe menu with great value, in order to give guests a little extra incentive to dine out. Executive Chef Johnathan Frabotta will prepare a three course dinner, featuring fresh salad, Harris Ranch filet mignon along with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veggies, and dessert, paired with a glass of local house wine, for $30. Reservations are encouraged: (559) 642-3131. Click here to download the menu.

Participating restaurants in addition to Ducey’s include Crab Cakes Family Restaurant and South Gate Brewing Company in Oakhurst, the Majestic Yosemite Hotel in Yosemite National Park, and The Vineyard Restaurant in Madera.

Visit Yosemite’s Therese Williams says the special promotion, which runs through January 31, is an opportunity that locals and visitors will want to take advantage of. This month, she says, is also a great time to get hotel deals and experience the diversity of what our destination offers, from hiking to wine tasting.

Meanwhile, South Gate is releasing a brewmaster’s specialty: Easy Ryeder – a Rye IPA, brewed with Rye malts, Citra, and mosaic hops — which they say pairs nicely with the farm-to-table dishes at the brew pub.

The Majestic Yosemite Hotel offers Taste of Yosemite, as some of America’s most renowned chefs come together at The Majestic Yosemite Hotel to share their cuisine. Taste of Yosemite includes cooking demonstrations, a reception where guests can mix and mingle with the chefs, and a fabulous five-course dinner prepared by a visiting chef.

Visit Yosemite Madera County Restaurant Month is part of California Restaurant Month, designated by Visit California. Now in its eighth year, California Restaurant Month drives business for local restaurants and entices out-of-state travelers to visit California.

“California Restaurant Month is a celebration of California’s unparalleled culinary bounty,” said Caroline Beteta, Visit California President & CEO. “Fueled by the state’s vast supply of fresh ingredients, talented chefs and diverse cultural influences, California cuisine is recognized around the globe for being both innovative and delicious.”
