Cartel Pot Grow On Forest Service Land

MARIPOSA COUNTY – On July 8, 2015 the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office along with the US Forest Service, conducted a marijuana eradication operation in the Sierra National Forest. The garden, located in the Signal Peak area, was identified as an illegal Mexican Cartel Drug Trafficking Operation.

While entering the garden complex, members of the eradication team located two subjects. One subject, Juan Pedro Jimenez of Encinitas Mexico was apprehended. The other subject fled on foot into the vegetation.

A total of 6,919 marijuana plants were eradicated in 3 separate areas of the garden. Each garden was connected with black drip line used to water.

A .22 caliber bolt action rifle was located outside of a tent in the garden.

Juan Pedro Jimenez was transported by Forest Service personnel to the Federal Holding Facility located in Fresno California.
