Camille Fisher and Kaitlyn Fisher
Sierra Art Trails 2013 Catalog # 64 and # 65
Camille Fisher (artist #64) is a creative, bright and lovely 9-year-old student at Oakhurst Elementary School (OES). She incorporates color playfully into her work, which is greatly inspired by her love of the natural sciences and by many generations of artists in her family.
Camille loves watercolor, pastels, fabric, ceramics, colored pencils and good ol’ Crayola crayons. Her piece titled “Sunday Hummingbird” (pastel) is currently displayed at the Stellar Gallery (see attached photograph). “Five Mystical Aspens” (watercolor) is displayed at the Childrens Museum of the Sierra (CMOS). Camille hopes to grow and learn by the opportunity to display her art through Sierra Art Trails.
Kaitlyn Fisher (artist #65) is Camille’s identical twin sister, also a fourth grade student at OES. Kaitlyn’s greatest passion is art and she is drawing during every spare moment and she especially enjoys pencil drawing and cartooning.
She has the natural ability to create characters with extraordinary personality. Kaitlyn’s mixed media piece titled “Colorful Wind” (crayon/watercolor) is currently displayed at Stellar Gallery. “Asian Treat” is displayed at CMOS. She aspires to be a professional full-time artist someday. Kaitlyn is greatly honored by the once in a lifetime opportunity to inspire others through participation in Sierra Art Trails.
Both Kaitlyn and Camille have been inspired by both professional and amateur local artist/friends including, but not limited to, Kathy Marks, Dana Moody, Judy de Rosa, Barbara Ezell, and Jon Bock. Famous historic artists that have inspired them include Van Gogh and Georgia O’Keefe. They have studied art at several summer art camps including Vision Academy of the Arts and Calvin Crest.
Both girls won awards at the Yosemite Conservancy art contest (2012) and their work was shown in the Ansel Adams Gallery last winter.
Jon Bock proudly awarded Steve Montalto of the Childrens Museum of the Sierra “The Flame” at the Sierra Art Trails Gala Reception. Both Kaitlyn and Camille are honored to have the opportunity to display their artwork at the Childrens Museum until the Art Trails weekend as a symbol of this newly strengthened collaborative relationship between the museum and Sierra Art Trails.
