Caltrans Tree Work And Maintenance Schedule On Highways 41 And 49

MADERA COUNTY — Caltrans spokesman Cory Burkarth reports that, depending on weather, drivers in the Oakhurst, Coarsegold and Ahwahnee areas should expect some delays while road maintenance and tree work continues between storms.

Caltrans will work in the following neighborhoods:

  • Highway 41 in the vicinity of Road 425B in Coarsegold/Oakhurst
  • Highway 49 in the vicinity of Mockingbird Lane in Ahwahnee

Maintenance crews will be on storm patrol as needed following the rain. Caltrans crews have distributed over 500 tons of sand on the state highways in our neck of the woods, according to Burkarth. Now, they request that motorists slow down, pay attention and do not drive aggressively.

When trees are dropped for the hazard tree removal project, traffic is stopped in both directions and delays could be 15 minutes or longer, with people at the back of the line being delayed for possibly as much as 30 minutes.

Maintenance crews for storm patrol will typically stop traffic in only one direction, with delays in the 10-15 minute range, theoretically.

This work will continue for the next several weeks. Please, slow for the cone zone.
