MARIPOSA COUNTY — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform drainage work this month on State Route 140 near Briceburg and traffic delays are expected.
Crews will remove and replace two existing failed culverts beneath a rural stretch of Route 140 along the Merced River from Slate Gulch to Sweetwater Creek beginning Wednesday, Sept. 8, through late September and into early October.
This project will extend the service life of the storm water drainage system and ensure traffic safety, reliability, and the integrity of the highway system.
Work is scheduled to occur from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. each working day. Motorists should expect 10- to -15-minue delays due to intermittent closures of both lanes.
This estimated $430,000 Director’s Order emergency repair project will be performed by Sinclair General Engineering Construction of Oakdale, CA.
This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
For the safety of workers and other motorists, please Be Work Zone Alert.
