Sweet Competition For Junior Bakers

OAKHURST, CA — Vision Academy of the Arts is helping out with Mountain Heritage Days this year in some sweet and spicy ways.

On Saturday, Sept. 14 at Fresno Flats, organizers have planned a Junior Homemade Cookie Bake-Off, scheduled the same day as the Salsa Fest.

Sounds like a delicious opportunity for all concerned.

Kids in grades 1 – 12 are invited to enter the Bake Off competition by submitting one dozen cookies on or in a disposable container. There’s a limit of 2 entries per exhibitor and all entries must be homemade by the junior baker.

Vision AcademyThree Divisions mark the competition: Elementary (grades 1-5), Intermediate (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12).

Recipes must accompany each entry and be typed or printed on a 3 x 5 card with the entrant’s name and class information (school, teacher, grade) on the back of the card.

All entries must be at Fresno Flats by 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. On Sunday, Sept. 15 the Presentation of Awards will begin at 1 p.m.

A fee of $5 per entry is due with early registration by Thursday, Sept. 12 or for $7 per entry on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. and all proceeds go to support Vision Academy’s scholarship program.
