California Offers Pet Lovers License Plates

The new plates were designed by actor Pierce Brosnan, featuring the family dog “Shiloh” (who was a pound dog), and their cat “Angel Baby.” Proceeds from the sale of the plates will go toward providing funding for free and low-cost spay and neuter programs.

It is a sad fact that over 1 million dogs and cats end up in California shelters every year, and over half of them are euthanized because there aren’t enough homes for them to be adopted into.

Spaying and neutering is the best way to cut down on the number of dogs and cats that end up in shelters. The California Pet Lovers License Plate provides a large-scale, permanent funding source for spay and neuter programs.

Cesar Millan, watched by millions on his show “The Dog Whisperer” says, “To me, a spay and neuter campaign is just as important as the Buckle Up campaign; it saves lives.” His organization, The Millan Foundation, is joined by the California Veterinary Medical Board, Petco, The Humane Society of the United States, ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society, Pet Food Express, PETA, the Jason Debus Heigi Foundation, and Found Animals Foundation in launching this project.

You can pre-order your plate, with either your current license plate number, or a personalized plate, by visiting http://www.caspayplate.com/main.php. The cost is $50 for a regular plate, $98 for personalized, and you can also donate to the cause while you’re there, if you so choose.
