Cal Fire Plans Training Burn For Long Ranch

MARIPOSA COUNTY — The Cal Fire Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit (MMU) will conduct a vegetation management training burn on Friday, June 28 on the Long Ranch located on Old Highway near Yaqui Gulch.

The training will consist of burning 38 acres of annual grass, oak woodland and sparse brush.

The purpose of the burn is to train firefighting personnel in firing strategies and tactics. The management fire will also be used to reduced noxious weeds and reduce fuel loading and ladder fuels and promote native grasses.

Smoke may be visible locally.
