CAL FIRE: Hunters Fire Now 60% Contained; 85 Acres Burned

MARIPOSA COUNTY — The Hunters Fire, which sparked late Sunday, was 60 percent contained as of 7 p.m. Monday, according to the latest update from CAL FIRE.

The fast-moving brush fire has burned 85 acres near Lake McClure, prompting emergency evacuation orders Sunday night for residents near Hunters Valley and Detwiler roads, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.

At least six residences in that area remained under mandatory evacuation orders Monday night.

Road closures are also in place at Hunters Valley and Bear Valley roads.

There are no reports of structures damaged or injuries at this time.

Multiple engines from CAL Fire’s Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit are battling the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
