Bridge Fire Evacuation Order Partially Lifted

MARIPOSA COUNTY – On Saturday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m., the Bridge Fire Incident Commander and Mariposa County Sheriff will allow most residents to return to their homes.

Today at 7 p.m. residents of the Ponderosa Basin community will be allowed to return home, with the exception of those who live on the dirt portion of Harris Road.

The dirt portion of Harris Road will remain closed between Ponderosa Court and Highway 49 under the standing evacuation order due to fire suppression efforts still in progress.

Residents are to use Chowchilla Mountain Road from Highway 49 and anticipate minor delays due to security check-in. Residents will need to show identification, and the area is still closed to the public.

Expect road closures and continued security patrols in the community for the next few days.

Please continue to drive with caution as emergency personnel and equipment are still working in the area.

The Sheriff’s Office asks you to please respect private property and remain clear of fire areas.

The Red Cross Shelter is located at 5089 Cole Road at the New Life Christian Church in Bootjack.
