Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst Opens Doors After Months of Planning

OAKHURST – Dec. 7th, 2020 – After months of planning the Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst is very grateful to announce their re-opening. The Boys & Girls Club opened their doors today after being closed due to the current pandemic.

The organization has been active on several fronts since the onset of the pandemic, however, it has been unable to provide in-person youth services since shutting down last March.

In an effort to comply with CDC guidelines, the Club’s administrative team in Fresno has developed a number of safety precautions that will enable the club to provide a safe learning experience for their membership.

The club will be opening several learning hubs to provide in-person services for youth two days a week, from 8am-3:30pm.

“We feel that with schools offering services two days a week, that we can enhance their offering by providing services on the students distance learning days” explained Board President Doug Macaulay. He continued “Our collaboration with the schools during this time has been incredible, we are especially grateful for the work Bass Lake Unified has done to help bring high speed WIFI services to our membership.”

The first half of the day, members will be encouraged to complete school assignments with staff available for extra help. After lunch, the club will begin regular operations with activities such as Epic Science Time, Triple Play, and arts and crafts.

Although families can apply for a scholarship for reduced fees, weekly membership dues are $40. Scholarships are currently limited, however, the club is hopeful to raise additional scholarship funds during its annual Christmas Tree Auction which is currently running online until midnight tonight, Dec. 7th, 2020.

We would also like to welcome three new staff members to the Boys and Girls Club of Oakhurst.

Nikko, Amanda, and Donavon are excited to join our team and begin working with our amazing club members.

Interested individuals should visit OakhurstBGC.org for more information on both the auction as well as the club’s reopening.
