Boy Scouts Recruitment Evening In North Fork

NORTH FORK – North Fork Boy Scout Troop 357 along with Cub Pack 357 will be holding a recruitment evening at the Scout Building next to the Town Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m.

In addition to weekly meetings, Scouts of Troop 357 participate in monthly weekend activities.

Over the past year, some of activities in which the troop has participated were the Mud Run at Hobbs Grove, camping trips to Morro Bay, Yosemite, a Camporee, and the annual week long summer camp at Camp Chawanakee on Shaver Lake.

This coming fall and spring some of the camping trips planned are to the ghost town of Bodie, Sequoia/ Kings Canyon National Park and Death Valley.

During meetings and weekend events, Scouts learn first aid, cooking camping, map and compass, swimming, citizenship and other skills.

Over the course of the year, the troop helps plant one-year seedlings at Bass Lake as well as assists in road cleanup projects.

Boys in 1st grade through 5th grade are eligible for the Cub Scout program. Boys age 11, or 10 ½ and in 6th grade, through age 17 are eligible for the Boy Scout program.

The recruitment night will offer an opportunity to meet with unit leaders as well as older Scouts to learn more about the program.

Boys and parents interested in learning more about the Boy Scout and Cub Scout program are encouraged to attend this event.
