Books, Birthdays And Superheroes

OAKHURST — Branches Books & Gifts is celebrating their 4th birthday on Saturday, Jun. 3 from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and the public is cordially invited to attend the free, fun, family-friendly event.

Branches’ owner Anne Driscoll says people are encouraged to dress up as a favorite super hero and come meet Wonder Woman, Batman and Captain America, while learning tricks of the super hero trade.

Branches Books & Gifts opened four years ago in the Junction Plaza Center and relocated to the new, larger space near in the Old Mill Shopping Center near Vons last August. The new location has allowed for more author signings, art shows and children’s events, Anne says, and it’s also been a good spot to attract new people into the shop.

“The location is absolutely perfect. We have a gorgeous view, wonderful foot traffic and new customers finding us daily,” Anne says. “We are also very thankful to all of our loyal customers who continue to be the backbone of our business. Without them, we couldn’t have this celebration!”

Anne and her staff decided to throw a super hero party in honor of the occasion, especially when they realized the store’s four-year anniversary fell on an already-special day.

“I was scrolling through Facebook and saw a post saying Wonder Woman Day was also June 3, and thought it would be perfect,” Anne says, noting it’s auspicious to have a woman celebrating a business milestone on Wonder Woman Day. “Epic,” she adds.

And so it is. Kids and adults are invited to dress up and enjoy the festivities, including prize drawings, treats, discounts and super heroes. Please call (559) 641-2019 with any questions.

Branches Books & Gifts is a locally-owned, independent bookstore featuring regional titles, bestsellers, local authors, guidebooks, cards, journals, toys, games and more. The store is staffed by well-read, friendly booksellers who look forward to helping customers find just the right book, whether shopping online or in person.
