OAKHURST – The 30th Annual Elegant Auction to benefit Oakhurst Community Park will be held on May 2, at the Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite.
In honor of the 30th Anniversary, this year’s theme is surrounded with pearls – think “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” – providing a wonderful opportunity for guests to get dressed up in their elegant best.
The event remains the only fundraiser that provides necessary maintenance, new equipment and water at the park.
Doors open at 5 p.m., along with silent auction bidding. Guests will be provided with complimentary champagne to sip while placing their bids, in addition to a gourmet buffet and live music.
At 8 p.m., a professional auctioneer will announce the beginning of the exciting live auction. Past live auction items have included trips to Hawaii, Palm Springs and Pismo Beach; custom works of art, gas BBQs, jewelry, tree service work, two-night stay certificates for two couples at the Ahwahnee Hotel with the Chef’s Dinner, and inclusive packages from Tenaya Lodge.
The committee is excited to have some new and creative items to get bid cards jumping this year.
“This year’s committee has come up with some great ideas for live auction items, like a VIP Oakhurst Christmas Tree Lighting Experience, complete with a seat next to Santa Claus in the Station 12 Fire Engine at that event,” says Oakhurst Park and Elegant Auction committee chair, Andrew Pence. “We are also decreasing the number of live auction items and switching up the silent auction a bit. It has been 30 years; it’s time for some positive changes.”
Dancing will follow the live auction and special hotel rates – starting at $159 per night including breakfast for two – are available for those wanting to stay the night at the Tenaya Lodge. Use code word: Elegant when placing reservations by phone.
Tickets are $45 when purchased in advance and $55 at the door. All tickets that are purchased online via the Facebook Page before Apr. 25 will be entered into a drawing to win 100 free raffle tickets.
