OAKHURST – Blockbuster Video has announced that they will be closing the doors at their Oakhurst location on October 25.
According to manager Breanna Meier, the employees were notified last Wednesday of the closing which was precipitated by underperfomance at the location.
“We just aren’t making enough money,” said Meier, who has worked at Blockbuster since November 2012, and was promoted to manager in April of this year.
Meier says that six employees will be out of a job, and she herself is on the hunt for new employment.
Everything in the store is now on sale, with DVDs priced at $9.99, TV series at $19.99 and games and candy 20% off. They are no longer offering rentals.
Meier says that they will be lowering their prices each week until they close.
