Vision Arts Salsa Contest At Fall Festival

OAKHURST – Do you make a killer salsa? Perhaps you are lucky enough to know someone who does. You’ll be happy to know a new event has been added to this year’s Fall Festival for Saturday, Oct. 11: Salsa Fest, sponsored by Vision Academy of the Arts, offers foothill home-chefs a chance to show off their favorite original salsa recipes to earn the title “Best Salsa in the Mountains.”

Mountain area residents are encouraged to submit their favorite home-made salsas for the tasting. Think of the bragging rights!

Winners will have the opportunity to publish and later share their prize winning recipes during Vision Academy’s annual scholarship fundraiser, “Grand Night for the Arts” in February.

Specialty Salsa could be fruit based, raw or cooked. Vision Academy will assemble a panel of local chefs and personalities to judge the winners in each category.

In addition, attendees have the opportunity to vote for their favorite salsa by placing a donation in a jar next to their top choice. The salsa that earns the greatest amount of money for the nonprofit organization will be dubbed “Taster’s Choice.” All donations will go to Vision Academy of the Arts Scholarship Fund.

Last year’s 1st Place winners include Cindy Donnell and Terry Hoke.
