Bass Lake Ranger District Office To Resume Normal Operations

NORTH FORK — With the mandatory evacuation order lifted for the North Fork area, the Sierra National Forest (SNF) Bass Lake Ranger District office is expected to resume normal operations Tuesday, Jan. 17.

The office will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16.

The District Office and several residential areas in North Fork were affected by the evacuation order issued earlier in the week by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office. The order has been lifted, although an evacuation warning remains in effect for the Willow Creek area.

With the ground saturated and lingering snow, road travel can still be very difficult, as the potential for additional flooding, mud and rock slides, washouts, and falling trees remains. Avoid driving through unknown depths of water and monitor weather forecasts as conditions can change very quickly.

For information regarding the SNF, and recreational activities please contact the High Sierra Ranger District office in Prather at 559-855-5355, the Bass Lake Ranger District office in North Fork at 559-877-2218, or the Forest Supervisor’s office in Clovis at 559-297-0706.
