Baker Swim Complex to the Rescue!

It’s getting hot around here, and nothing beats a dip in the pool to cool you off quickly. So drag your cooler out of the garage and pack it with a picnic lunch and lots of cool drinks. Find a bag, throw in some towels and plenty of sun block, grab a chair and head to the pool at the Baker Swim Complex at the Yosemite High School campus.

Now moms, you don’t have to be a super model to hang out by the pool. Don’t let how you think you look determine your summer comfort. I mean really, we have all seen a man in a Speedo, so I say live and let live! An added benefit if you are unhappy about your weight, is that swimming is an excellent way to exercise. Water aerobics are offered Monday through Friday from 9:00-10:00 am and from 5:30-6:30 pm.

If you have small children, the pool will solve many problems for you. Picture yourself, floating in the shallow end of the pool, your children frolicking happily nearby, the cabana boy offering to apply sun block to your back… Hey, wait a minute, this isn’t that kind of story. I’m not kidding though. If you are at the pool with the kids, you will save yourself an afternoon of “Mom, I’m bored!” or worse yet… “That’s mine! He’s looking at me!” and a plethora of others.

The pool is a great place for the older kids as well. Ages 14+ can go without a parent. I guess the question is, why would you let that happen? I mean there are always 2 lifeguards on duty, 3 during peak hours, so they will be safe. But why miss an opportunity to embarrass your kid? You don’t have to do anything but be there to accomplish that! Remember, summer isn’t just for kids.

The cost to swim is $4.00 per day or you can buy a family pass for $40.00 per person up to a $200 maximum. Pool hours are 12:00 noon – 7:00 pm.
See you at the pool!
