OAKHURST – Yosemite High School’s Badger swim and dive teams went up against 5 other teams in the North Sequoia League Meet last Friday, May 9th. Coach Brandon Brokaw said, “Our kids swam really well and did everything that they could to win the meet.”

OAKHURST – Coming up is the last weekend to see the Golden Chain Theatre’s performance, “Song of the Mounties,” a student production of a melodrama, complete with dancing. GTC offers a true melodrama experience, where the audience can “boo and hiss” the evil villain and “cheer and sigh” for the poor heroine.

COARSEGOLD – Mark your calendars for Music in the Meadow 2014. The festive, easy-going family-friendly event is a fundraiser for the Coarsegold Historical Society, dedicated to the ongoing restoration of the Museum’s 1870s adobe house. “Bring a chair or blanket, and enjoy a lovely afternoon surrounded by history and great music,” says Steve Core, president of the Coarsegold Historical Society.

BASS LAKE – Preparations are under way now for the fourth annual Bass Lake Classic Triathlon on Saturday, May 31. Athletes will begin arriving at The Pines Village at approximately 6 a.m., with the race set to begin at 7:30. Organizers anticipate an end-time of 2 p.m. and staging is expected to be torn down by 4:00.

OAKHURST – Parents and guardians of Yosemite High School (YHS) International Baccalaureate (IB) and Honors students are asked to attend an International Baccalaureate Parent Organization (IBPO) meeting this evening, Monday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will take place in Sr. Steve Browning’s classroom, room 1504 of Ansel Adams building.

OAKHURST – Our local Eastern Madera County Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society returns to Yosemite High School this year and it’s shaping up to be a great event. The popular annual 24 hour fundraiser is set for this Saturday, May 17, for the first time on the contemporary YHS track.
