ARTober in Oakhurst Returns with Exciting Events

OAKHURST — This October, Oakhurst, California hosts “ARTober“, a month-long celebration of the town’s arts and cultures.  This year’s events offer something for everyone, from live music to scavenger hunts, the Sierra Art Trails Studio Tour and Oakhurst Fall Festival.

FIND Art The Bear: Scavenger Hunt

Hidden throughout Oakhurst is Art the Bear. Use the daily clues to search for Art the Bear in new areas.

To begin, one of ARTober’s key attractions is the FIND Art the Bear scavenger hunt.  Each day in October, chainsaw-carved bears made by Nate’s Kustom Carving, will be hidden throughout Oakhurst.  Moreover, participants can follow clues on the ARTober Oakhurst Facebook page and Instagram account to find these bears.  Thus, creating a fun way to explore the town while searching for antique art pieces.

Sierra Art Trails Open Studio Tour

Additionally, the Sierra Art Trails Open Studio Tour gives visitors a chance to meet more than 70 local artists and see their work firsthand.  This tour, running from October 4th-6th and October 11th-13th, allows attendees to visit home studios and galleries throughout the Sierra foothills.  In turn, art forms on display include:

  • painting
  • sculpture
  • photography
  • jewelry
  • woodworking

Importantly, for $25, participants will receive an event catalog, which doubles as a ticket for two and a guide to all the artists on the tour.

Oakhurst Fall Festival: A Community Favorite

Midway rides in full swing at the Annual Oakhurst Fall Festival.

Next, the Oakhurst Fall Festival offers family-friendly fun from October 11th-13th at Oakhurst Community Park.  The festival features midway rides, arts and crafts vendors, live local music, and plenty of food trucks.  On top of that, admission is just $5 for all three days, with free parking available and local wineries and breweries will also offer tastings.

Music by the River: Live Music Events

Lastly, two Music by the River concerts will take place at Queen’s Inn by the River on October 5th and 12th.  The concerts feature bands like Natural Bridge and What Comes Next, with a mix of rock, country, and original music.  In addition, South Gate Brewing Company will also host its Oktoberfest and 11th Anniversary celebration on October 5th, with live performances by Boha and Trey Tosh.
