Arrests Made In Theft Of $400 In Fuel

MADERA COUNTY – Two Madera men are behind bars facing grand theft charges, accused of stealing at least $400 worth of fuel from a ranch located on Avenue 13 near Road 23.

Behind bars are, Mario Estevan Valdez, 28, and Alonzo Ramos, 32.Gas started disappearing from the ranch starting on Mar. 31. After much legwork, Agriculture Crimes Detective Adam McEwen and Deputy Luis Padgett identified and arrested the suspects.

Alonzo RamosSheriff John Anderson also gives a lot of credit to the AG community. Anderson says landowners are not only working closely with the Sheriff’s Ag Crimes Unit, but they are also taking initiative, and adopting new methods to help keep an eye on their property 24/7.

Both men remain jailed with bail set at $10,000 each.

The case is still under investigation.
