CATHEYS VALLEY – Before a fire north of Raymond could be controlled, another roadside fire – this one in Catheys Valley – prompted another dispatch.
At about 5:20 p.m., reports came in of a fire burning along Highway 140 between Old Highway and Chase Ranch.
The first engine was at scene within minutes and reported the fire at about 1/2 acre, but requested traffic control on Highway 140 to allow crews to work quickly. CHP responded to do one-way traffic control.
Firefighters made quick work of the fire, and it was contained at 1/2 acre at 5:29 p.m. All engines not at scene were cancelled.
