Another Fire South Of Eastman Lake, Second In Three Days

MADERA COUNTY – Firefighters are on scene of a vegetation fire burning south of Eastman Lake just a mile away from the fire that charred 286 acres on Thursday.

At 1:16 p.m., multiple reports came in to 911 of a smoke along Road 29. Engines, crews, water tenders and aircraft were called out.

The first unit at scene reported a grass at about one acre burning on the west side of Road 29 about a mile south of Road 607.

Air Attack and one tanker responded out of Fresno, plus a tanker out of Columbia and two helicopters.

At 1:43 p.m., the fire was reported at two acres.

Crews are taking all precautions to protect the point of origin of the fire so that investigators can determine the cause.

At 1:58 p.m., the incident commander reported the fire was contained. All resources not already at scene were cancelled except three Type 3 engines.
