OAKHURST – A two-vehicle accident in front of McDonalds today sent two young women to the hospital.
Kimberly Kerbero, 18, of Oakhurst, driving a 1999 Chevy Cavalier, was attempting to pull out onto Highway 41 from the McDonald’s parking lot at about 2:37 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 18.With southbound traffic backed up from the stoplight at Highway 49 to the turn-in at the fast food restaurant, a motorist in the right lane stopped and left a space for Kerbero to turn into the lane in front of him. He assumed she was also going to head south, according to CHP on the scene.
However, Kerbero pulled out to turn left, which would require her to cross both lanes of traffic.
Susan Rodriguez, 61, also of Oakhurst, was southbound in the left lane in a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee. She was not able to see Kerbero, and was unable to stop before hitting the Cavalier, which pulled out right in front of her.
A 14-year-old passenger in Kerbero’s car was complaining of some pain, and both young women were transported by Sierra Ambulance to Valley Children’s Hospital for further evaluation.
Rodriguez was able to start her Jeep and drive it away, and Doc’s Towing was called to pick up the Cavalier.
